The first Australian to win the Silver Cup at The Masters, Oliver Goss, will tee it up at The Brisbane Golf Club for this year’s Isuzu Queensland Open.
The 26-29 October championship will see Goss head to Queensland fresh from contesting the WA Open the week prior, where he won as an amateur in 2012.
In 2014 Goss made headlines around the world after winning the Silver Cup as low amateur at The Masters, by virtue of his 2013 U.S. Amateur runner-up performance.
The 23-year-old joined the Web.com Tour in 2015 and will return to Australia to contest the summer of golf on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.
Isuzu Queensland Open Tournament Director, Luke Bates welcomed the news.
“We are delighted that Oliver is looking forward to attending his first Isuzu Queensland Open,” Bates said.
“Past Champions Andrew Dodt (2014) and Brett Coletta (2016) secured wins from tournaments invitations and have gone on to achieve great success locally and internationally, so I’m sure Oliver is looking to continue the pattern.”
Other Western Australian players looking to make the trip include recent NZ PGA Champion Jarryd Felton, and Challenge Tour player Daniel Fox.
Elite amateurs are also lining up to emulate Brett Coletta’s amateur win, with the likes of Junior President’s Cup Team member Josh Armstrong and Australian Men’s Amateur Champion Matias Sanches set to join the field.
The Isuzu Queensland Open will be played from 26-29 October 2017 at The Brisbane Golf Club. The Championship is a part of an action-packed Australian summer of golf and forms part of the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.
