Gibson began the final round in a share of sixth position after getting to 6-under at the Panama Golf Club layout but couldn’t maintain his momentum on a more difficult day for scoring.
An early bogey set the tone for the day with the 31-year-old heading to the turn 3-over and struggling.
One birdie and one bogey in the inward journey didn’t advance his cause and he eventually slipped to his second consecutive T25 finish.
Gibson was one of four Australians in the field with three making the cut.
Steve Allan moved up the leaderboard to T38 Sunday thanks to an even par 70 while Mark Hensby dropped five places to T52 after a final round 73.
Jamie Arnold, who earned his card for 2017 at last year’s Q School, missed his fourth straight cut for the season.
