The PGA of Australia, together with the Heidelberg Golf Club, is pleased to announce the return of the Get Wines Direct Heidelberg Pro-Am for 2015.

Guaranteed to live up tothe outstanding reputation the tournament has developed over the past 66 years,the Get Wines Direct Heidelberg Pro-Am will be contested on Friday 13 March.

Theone day pro-am is offering a prize purse of $20,000 and has already attracted Professionals from both Australia and overseas. 

A strong field is expected to contest the Get Wines Direct Heidelberg Pro-Am, including former US PGA TOUR Professional Euan Walters, Asian Tour winner Terry Pilkadaris, Former European Tour winner, Michael Harwood and European Senior Tour Professional, Tim Elliott.

With the course in optimum condition a great day of challenging competition will been joyed by both players and spectators.

Heidelberg Golf Club is enjoying the success of its labour, a reduction of its debts andstrong growth in membership sees the club moving strongly into the future. 

The course has come ahead in leaps and bounds under the watchful eye of Superintendent Clint Raven, who joined the Heidelberg Golf Club after a stint at Yarra Yarra Golf Club.

"It’s an exciting time of year for the club, the pro-am gives us a great opportunityto showcase our wonderful course and facilities we have available for members,guests and corporate partners", said General Manager, Lindsay Bell.   

Former Collingwood Football Club Captain and 1990 Norm Smith Medallist, Tony Shaw, has played an integral role in ensuring the Get Wines Direct Heidelberg Pro-Am continues to be one of the best one-day tournaments in Australia.

In the last three years the tournament has twice been voted pro-am of the year in the $20,000 and under category.    

"The Get Wines Direct Heidelberg Pro-Am is one of the marquee events in the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Victorian Series.  Along with Heidelberg we are looking to grow the game of golf, and a pro-am is a great event to showcase the experts in the game" said PGA Tournament Coordinator, Cameron Davies.

The tournament joins 42 existing tournaments on the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series Southern Order of Merit that sees players vying for the Peter Thomson Trophy and the Order of Merit title.

Entry to the Get Wines Direct Heidelberg Pro-Am is free and gives the general public a great opportunity to see our national stars in action.   

The Choice Hotels PGAPro-Am Series is a Professional golf circuit managed by the PGA of Australia.

The series consists of approximately 200 tournaments played at more than 170 golf courses throughout Australia and the South Pacific, with close to $4 million in prize money on offer each year.
