Josh Geary has gone a long way towards securing a 2016 Web.com Tour card after winning his second PGA TOUR China event in just four starts at the weekend.

"JoshThe former WA Open champion has an almost AU$45,000 lead at the top of the Order of Merit and with the top-five earning status to the PGA TOUR’s secondary circuit next year it seems all but impossible Geary will
not be among that number.

A final round of 3-under 69 saw Geary overtake third round leader JH Wang and secure the winner’s cheque for AU$45,000 at the Lanhai Open, the fifth event of a 12 tournament series.

This week’s earnings mean Geary has amassed just shy of AU$100,000 for the year, AU$113,000 was required to be in the top-five in 2014.

While it was a great week for Geary he wasn’t the only Australasian success story with South Australia’s Peter Cooke again impressing with a top-five finish.

Cooke opened with a disappointing 78 but fought back bravely over the final three rounds, his 6-under 66 the best score in the field Sunday by a comfortable two shots.

Cooke hasn’t finished out of the top-five in any of the three events he has played and has moved to sixth on the Order of Merit, the highest ranked Australasian behind Geary.

David McKenzie (3rd), Max McCardle (4th), Christopher Brown (T9) and New Zealand’s Daniel Pearce (T9) all finished in the top-10 this week.
