After a mini slump through April and May New Zealand’s Ryan Fox looks to be back on track and his game will be tested this week in a strong field at the BMW PGA International tournament in Germany.
Fox is one of seven Australasians teeing up at the Golfclub München Eichenried in Munich where defending champion Henrik Stenson will be one of six Major winners in the field.
Fox is joined by Sam Brazel, Wade Ormsby, Marcus Fraser, Brett Rumford, Richard Green and Jason Scrivener at the tournament which boasts an impressive list of winners.
Fox missed three consecutive cuts following the Shenzen International in China in late April but turned things around at the Nordea Masters with T23 finish at the Lyoness Open two weeks ago will be looking to build on that form this week in Germany.
In his first full season as a European Tour member Fox has been steady without producing the explosive golf he is capable of but with a new set of clubs in his bag, this could be the week.
Wader Ormsby will also be motivated for a good week after a disappointing first Major performance at last week’s U.S. Open.
A horror finish to his opening round proved costly for the South Australian who was travelling nicely before two double bogeys in his last three holes saw him sign for a 75.
Ormsby later tweeted that he was ‘gutted by that finish’ and is no doubt still smarting from eventually missing the cut.
Sitting just outside the top-100 on the Race to Dubai Ormsby also needs some good golf between now and the end of the year to ensure he keeps his card after playing this season on a medical exemption.
Also trying to guarantee his job for next season is Richard Green who lost his full card last year.
The veteran is playing on a sponsor’s invitation this week and at 199th on the Race to Dubai standing, and needing to be in the top 110 to earn back a card, knows he needs to make the most of every opportunity.
