Fierce and windy conditions weren’t enough to stop Peter Fowler at Terrace Downs in New Zealand, claiming the NZPGA Seniors Championship.
Fierce and windy conditions weren’t enough to stop Peter Fowler at Terrace Downs in New Zealand, claiming the NZPGA Seniors Championship.
Fowler opened his week solidly with a 3-under 69 to be tied for second with Mike Zilko after the first round, with Guy Wall only one shot ahead of the pair.
However it was the second round where Fowler found that winning form, firing an impressive 7-under 68 to take a five stroke lead heading into the final day.
Grinding out a final round for 1-under 78, Fowler’s three round total of 215 was enough to secure victory by five strokes over New Plymouth Club Professional, Craig Owen.
Rounding out the top-5 were Richard Backwell on 4-over, Peter Smith 7-over and Tim Elliott on 8-over.
Fowler currently leads the Order of Merit on the PGA E-Z-GO Legends Tour.
