The field will be hunting Daniel Fox’s lead after he went low in round one of the inaugural JRT/TAG Southern Great Barrier Reef Golf Championship.
Teeing off in the morning field, Fox took advantage of the
slightly calmer conditions, on what was a windy and challenging day to fire a
round of 8-under 63.
"My
wedge game really set up my round today and although my putting hasn’t been the
best over recent weeks, it was nice to see a few putts starting to drop today,"
said Fox who was complimentary of the Yeppoon greens.
"The
course is in really good shape, with the greens being some of the best we get
to play on in Queensland."
"Hopefully
I will continue to see the putts drop over the next few days and stay in
contention over the final three rounds."
Heading into the second round, Fox is now two shots clear of
Chris Woods and Yeppoon local Adam Blyth who each managed to shoot 6-under 65
in the afternoon.
