"RichardStarting the day three shots off the lead, Green, playing inthe second last group, fired a 5-under 67 to finish regulation play on 16-under272.

Green then watched on as fellow left-hander and AustralianMasters champion Nick Cullen birdied the 18th hole to force aplayoff.

It took just two playoff holes for Green to win the OatesVic Open with birdie.

A three time winner on the European Tour, Green has been a strongsupporter of the Vic Open and was proud to finally place his name on thetrophy.

"It’s been a long time coming, I have wanted to come back towin and support the tournament and finally after 23 years of trying I have gotit finally," said Green.

"The last few years I have thoroughly enjoyed coming here toplay, it’s one of those tournaments that I have wanted on my list, more so thansome other around the world, it’s been very important to me."  

It’s been a week of highlights for Green who started byscoring a rare hole-in-one on the par-4 15th during the pro-am.

But Hollywood couldn’t have written a better script with hisfiancée Marianne Skarpnord joining him in the winner’s circle with her victoryin the Ladies Oates Vic Open.

"It’s incredible. I’ve seen what Marianne has beenthrough in the last few months with her game and her wrist injury. I’ve seen animmense amount of work put in by her and I’m very proud of her," said Green whowas on the range preparing for a playoff when Skarpnord sunk her final putt.

"I would have loved to of been there for her but it’s the wayit panned out, to be in contention for the men’s tournament, I had to keep warmand fortunately that helped me stay focused to continue in the playoff."

But Skarpnord summed it up best when she said it’s been afairytale finish.

"It’salmost a dream come true –a fairytale. We got engaged last week, we moved into the house (at ThirteenthBeach) on Monday, Greeny had an albatross on Wednesday and here we are todayboth winners," said Skarpnord who is a three time winner on the Ladies EuropeanTour.

Finishing two shots outside of the playoff and tied third onthe leaderboard were Scott Arnold and leading amateurs Ryan Ruffels and BenEccles.

On 13-under 275 and tied 6th were Adam Bland (SA), GarethPaddison (NZ), Dimitrios Papadatos (NSW) and Matthew Millar (ACT).

New Zealander Nick Gillespie rounded out the top-10 on12-under 276.
