A two hour fog delayed the start of the 3rd round this morning before another beautiful day of weather produced some great golf.
Overnight leader Gavin Fairfax got off to a great start being 3-under par through five holes. But bogeys at 8 and 9 derailed that momentum.
He regained his composure to play the final six holes in 5-under par including his second hole out of the week to eagle on the par-4 17th. Fairfax would finish the day with a 5-under par 67 for a 15-under par total of 201.
Fairfax’s round was matched by Robert Hogan, Trainee at the Toukley Golf Club, who like Fairfax began quickly with a birdie at the 1st followed by four straight birdies from the 3rd hole to make the turn in 5-under. However two bogies on the final two holes meant he made no gain on the leader. Hogan enters the final round on 8-under in outright 2nd.
Tied 3rd on 7-under par is Joel Troy, Trainee at the Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, and Correy Price, Trainee at Brighton Public Golf Course, followed by Marco Zirov (NSW) and Frazer Droop (Vic) on 5-under par.
Play moves back the Captain’s Course for the final round starting at 7.45am with the final group scheduled to tee off at 8.49am.
