Brett Drewitt has secured a Web.com Tour card after finishing third on the PGA TOUR China Order of Merit.

The fledgeling Tour wrapped up its first full season on the weekend with the 12th and final event of the year, the Tour Championship.

Despite finishing mid field in the final event of the season Drewitt did enough during the year to be one of the five players to earn status on America’s secondary Tour.

The 24-year-old from Inverell, who played all 12 events in China, amassed AU$112,000 for the year.

David McKenzie, twice a winner on the Tour, elected not to play the final two events of the year and finished sixth on the earnings table though may still get a second chance as the status of second place finisher Xin Jun Zhang is yet to be determined.

Zhang is serving a six month suspension as a result of two scorecard inconsistencies during the year and no announcement has been made on whether he will retain his place on the final listing or whether the sixth place finisher will be given his spot.

Ray Beaufils, who finished second in the final event of the season, climbed to seventh on the Order of Merit while Bryden MacPherson finished ninth.

Over the course of the season 24 Australians teed up on the PGA TOUR China but only three, Gavin Flint, Brett Drewitt and Ryan McCarthy, played all 12 events.

Drewitt wrote on his blog last week he still intends to attend Web.com Q-School in two weeks to try to improve his ranking status for the 2015 season.
