Jason Day’s magnificent winning streak has continued, with the Aussie favourite winning The Barclays at Plainfield Country Club this morning and his fourth win on the PGA TOUR this season.

Day shot a bogey free final round of 8-under 62 to take out the first of the four FedEx Cup playoff events by six shots over Sweden’s Henrik Stenson.

After starting the day tied for the lead with South Korea’s Sangmoon Bae, Day set the pace early with two birdies in the first four holes, which moved the Queenslander to two shots clear of Bae who had succumbed to two early bogeys.

Day entered the back nine with back-to-back birdies on the 10th and 11th which briefly moved him to four shots clear of Stenson.

Stenson quickly mounted a challenged firing back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th but it was a case of too little too late as Day answered back, ending his round on 19-under.

"To be able to play the way I did over the weekend was fantastic, today was just phenomenal golf," said Day after his round.

Day now replaces Jordan Spieth at number one in the FedExCup standings and joins an illustrious list of players to record four or more wins in a season, including Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy.

Day has never missed a cut at The Barclays and from seven previous starts has had two top-10 finishes, including runner-up last year at The Ridgewood Country Club.

The last time the tournament was held at Plainfield Country Club in 2011 Day finished tied 13th.

Day becomes the fifth Australian to win The Barclays, which was formally known as the Westchester Classic, and joins Adam Scott (2013), Wayne Grady (1989), David Graham (1976) and Bruce Crampton (1970) on the winners list.

Day joins Martin Kaymer as the only other player since 2000 to win his next worldwide start after capturing his first Major Championship.

Day has now secured four wins and four top-5 finishes from 17 starts in the 2014/15 season.

Other Aussies who made it through to the final day include Steven Bowditch, who fired a notable bogey free 6-under 64, John Senden who holed consecutive birdies on 11th, 12th and 13th to end his round on even par 67 and Matt Jones who finished 2-over 71.

Aussies in the top-100 on the FedEx Cup standings after The Barclays will contest the Deutsche Bank Championship from the 4-7 September.
