Jason Day will take a two-stroke lead into the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, after backing up his opening-round of 66 to record another low round for the second time this week at Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando.
In a week that was dominated by the Aussies early, Day carded a 7-under 65 to take a two shot lead on 13-under over Henrik Stenson.
Day’s 65 equaled his lowest round on the PGA TOUR and the eighth time has held the 36-hole lead/co-lead.
"It was great, I felt like I couldn’t do anything wrong out there," Day told AAP.
Making his sixth start at Bay Hill, Day’s best finish here was last year when he finished tied 17th. A win Sunday would see Day move from number 121 into the top-20 in the FedExCup standings.
Other Aussies in the field this week include Marc Leishman who is currently tied 8th after a 2-under 70 round two saw him move to 7-under.
Adam Scott couldn’t back up his brilliant opening round of 67, firing a 1-over 73 to see him drop 23 places on the leaderboard to tied 25th. Ryan Ruffles, Matt Jones and Aaron Baddeley all missed the cut.
74 Professionals and two amateurs at even-par 144 or better made the 36-hole cut out of a field of 118 Professionals and two amateurs.
