Nick Cullen jumped seven spots on the Challenge Tour’s Road to Oman rankings with a solid week at the China Tour co-sanctioned Foshan Open but has work to do if he is to graduate to the 2018 European Tour.
Cullen is trying to play his way into the top-15 in the standings to graduate to the main circuit but despite moving from 39th to 32nd this week still remains a long way from achieving that goal.
The only Australian remaining on the Challenge Tour with two events left on the schedule, Cullen will need a Herculean effort over the next fortnight but is a proven winner and the task is not beyond him.
The co-sanctioning arrangement saw seven Australasians from the China Tour take their place in the field though Cullen at T14 was the best of the group.
Maverick Antcliff was next best at 25th, one shot ahead of New Zealand’s Josh Geary while Bryden Macpherson posted his worst result of the season at T47.
Matthew Perry was last of the Australasians to make the cut at T51 with Deyen Lawson, Christopher Wood and Max McCardle all failing to qualify for the weekend.
