Allan Cooper has finished in front of one of the strongest fields to win the Schweppes Peregian Springs Legends Pro-Am.
Cooper fired a 4-under 68 to secure victory by one shot over New South Welshman, David Bennett, in the second event on the series.
"It was a great result for me and hope that this form will continue for the week," said Cooper.
"I’m sure we all have our eye on winning the first Sunshine Coast Master event so to have a good score today has got me in a good position."
The Sunshine Coast Master concept came from Ian Baker-Finch in consultation with Peregian Springs General Manager Declan McCollam and Stephen Hutchison, General Manager of Twin Waters Golf Club.
The final event will see those players with the best aggregate score from the three Legends pro-ams held this week compete for the title of inaugural winner of the Sunshine Coast Masters.
McCollam and Hutchison, who both play on the E-Z-Go PGA Legends tour, joined with Noosa Golf Club Professional Mark Tickle to support Baker-Finch’s vision of a Professional Sunshine Coast event.
"Since the Australian PGA Championship moved south, the opportunity to be able to host a marque golfing event in the area has been a possibility," said Baker-Finch.
"With some of Queensland’s best golf courses and the inviting summer climate, this week has proven to be a draw card for so many of our best senior golfers to finish their season and we hope this will continue."
Players move down the road on Thursday to Twin Waters Golf Club where all players will be teeing off at 9.00am.
All spectators are invited to see some of this country’s best Legends professionals. For all event details click here.
