Club Catalina Country Club has been voted the E-Z-GO Legends Tour Pro-Am
of the year.
After taking out the NSW/ACT PGA E-Z-GO Legends Pro-Am of the year the Catalina Country Club was also voted as the PGA National E-Z-GO Legends Pro-Am of the year for the 2014 season
Hosted by Club Catalina in Batemans Bay on the New South Wales South Coast last October, the club produced a pro-am with a genuine professional tournament feel.
The stunning 27-hole golf course was presented beautifully, combined with outstanding hospitality and a Professional only seeded draw on the final day all contributed to getting the club across the line.
Club Catalina Chief Executive Officer, Daryl Wilson, said the club was thrilled with the award.
"The Club was delighted and very surprised to be recognised by the PGA," said Wilson.
"We attended the State awards dinner at Royal Sydney and we were surprised to be named the winner from such a quality field,"
After receiving the award for state pro-am, Club Catalina was automatically nominated for the National title, along with Kooyonga in South Australia and Bargara in Queensland, which they also won.
"To be advised that we were successful in the National event has blown us away," added Wilson
While this was the first year Club Catalina hosted the Legends Tour, the club has a long history of running successful tournaments having hosted the National Futures Championship for the past six years.
The Catalina E-Z-GO Legends Pro-Am attracted a field of 59 Professionals who were vying for a prize purse of $25,000.
Included in the field was former Alfred Dunhill Cup winner and USPGA Champions Tour winner, Rodger Davis, and European Tour winner, Mike Harwood.
Victorian Tim Elliott claimed victory, firing 1-under par for a total of 143 over 36 holes.
"We look forward to providing another successful event and renewing our friendships with all of those who attend," said Wilson.
The E-Z-GO Legends Tour will return to Club Catalina in October and will see the PGA officially present Club Catalina with their award.
