Central Coast PGA Professional Kieran Pratt will stand amongst golf’s elite having received an invitation to play in the Oman Open on the European Tour this week.

Hailing from Toukley Golf Club just north of The Entrance, Pratt will make his maiden appearance on the European Tour alongside the likes of Major winners, Ryder Cup stars and many multiple winners on tour.

It is a far cry from his days at Pittwater Golf Centre where he began teaching after completing his traineeship at Toukley in 2014.

In recent years he joined Golf Club Spillern in Austria as a teaching professional and caddied on both the European and Challenge tours. But it is his current role as head Professional at Ras Al Hamra Golf Club in Muscat, host city for this week’s Oman Open, that saw him receive one of six invitations to bolster this week’s Aussie contingent to seven.

There will be a small sense of home for the Australian players teeing it up as host venue, Al Mouj Golf, is a Greg Norman design situated on the coastline of the Gulf of Oman, Norman’s signature style sure to provide a level of familiarity.

With top-five finishes in two of his three starts on the European Tour, Min Woo Lee can build on his ranking of 29th in the Race to Dubai standings as he turns his attention away from the United States and more towards a short-term future in Europe.

A quarter-finalist at the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth tournament that earned him a place in the field in Oman, Lee has already amassed E184,797 in prize money this year and is on target to echo the feat of Lucas Herbert last year in using sponsor invitations to secure a full European Tour card.

The other Australians playing in Oman this week are Herbert, Sam Brazel, Scott Hend and Q-School graduates Nick Cullen and Deyen Lawson.
