Aaron Baddeley has stormed home over the closing nine holes at the PGA TOUR’s Las Vegas stop to vault into the top-10 for the first time since April.

The two-time Australian Open winner was 4-under for his last six holes with an eagle and two birdies to finish T10 at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open.

Baddeley led the Australian challenge all week and was one of three Australians in the field to qualify for the weekend, defending champion Rod Pampling and Geoff Ogilvy also playing all 72 holes.

The result was Baddeley’s first top-10 since the Texas Open in April and sees him climb 72 places on the FedEx Cup standings to 56th, an important early season boost.

Pampling (T47) and Ogilvy (T75) both made the cut on the number at 1-over, Pamplimg moving ahead over the weekend with scores of 72-69 while Ogilvy battled to 77-71.

Greg Chalmers and Matt Jones failed to make the 36-hole cut, both struggling form over the first two days to be 5-over and 8-over respectively.

There were no such problems for Baddeley, however, as he opened 70-66 to put himself in the mix through 36 holes before stalling at the 54^th hole with a double bogey to shoot 74.

That dropped the four-time Tour winner from a share of fourth to a share of 10^th heading into Sunday and he remained there after bouncing back with a final round 68.

At 1-over through 11 holes of his final round the Victorian looked in danger of slipping well down the standings but his late fightback salvaged a decent result from the week.

After a missed cut and a T30 in his first two starts of the wraparound season, Baddeley will be pleased to register a top-10 and move up the FedEx Cup  with just two full field events remaining before the end of the year.
