Aussies hunting early FedEx Cup points

Robert Allenby and Aaron Baddeley are looking to consolidate good starts to the season while Stuart Appleby and Cameron Percy will be trying to climb the FedEx Cup points list at this week’s PGA TOUR event in Georgia.

Allenby is the second highest ranked Australian on the list through two events of the new season but will be keen to avoid the stress he endured at the end of 2013/14 where he finished 125th and claimed the last available card.  Steven Bowditch, who has opted not to play this week, holds top honours among the Australians in third place thanks to his runner-up finish at the Fry’s.com Open two weeks ago.

Aaron Baddeley has also had a solid start to the year to lie 28th on the points list but for Appleby and Percy there is work to be done. While the year is only two events old both will be keen to collect as many points as possible before the new year and the return of many of the TOUR’s top players.

Appleby currently lies 99th on the list after missing the third round cut last week and finishing well down the standings at the Fry’s event.Percy is 51st after also missing the Saturday cut at the Shriners though a T26 at Fry’s was a decent result.

Allenby owns the best record of the Australians at this event, a T3 finish in 2010 his best while Baddeley and Appleby have both played the event twice for mid-field finishes both times. Cameron Percy played here when a card holder in 2010 but missed the cut.
