It has taken just two events for Stephen Leaney to find his feet on the Champions Tour with the West Australian tied for 10th at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic in Georgia won by Scott McCarron.

Making his debut on the PGA TOUR seniors circuit three weeks ago where he was tied for 51st, Leaney opened with a 2-over par round of 74 at TPC Sugarloaf but made a significant move on Sunday.

The 50-year-old was pushing for a spot in the top five midway through his third and final round but bogeys at the 14th and 17th holes saw him fall back, a birdie at the par-5 finishing hole enough to log his first top-10.

Victorian David McKenzie had a difficult week at the Greg Norman-designed layout, rounds of 76-75-76 seeing him finish tied for 61st.

Sydney’s Harrison Endycott has continued his consistent start to the PGA TOUR-Latino America season with a tie for 12th at the Abierto de Chile 2019 tournament in Santiago.

Top-10 a week ago in Argentina, Endycott had three birdies and a lone bogey in his final round of 2-under 69 to move up five spots on the leaderboard and finish just outside the top 10, American John Somers winning by two shots.

The result sees Endycott move up six places on the Order of Merit to 17th while countryman Ryan Ruffels remains in third position despite missing the cut.

New Zealand’s Tim Wilkinson was the best of the Australasian contingent on the Web.com Tour as he made a Sunday surge up the leaderboard to finish tied for 10th at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Championship played at The Senator Course in Prattville, Alabama.

A bogey-free round of 4-under 68 from the Kiwi left-hander was one of the best of the final round and saw him move up 12 places to record his second top-10 finish of the season and move up to 39th on the moneylist.

Brett Coletta was the best of the Australians in a tie for 37th at 2-under for the week, Brett Drewitt a further shot back in a tie for 42nd, Lanto Griffin winning after a four-hole sudden death playoff.

Despite a strong history at Hilton Head no Aussies were able to put themselves in contention at the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage tournament at Harbor Town Golf Links.

CT Pan from Chinese Taipei held off American pair Patrick Cantlay and Matt Kuchar to break through for his first PGA TOUR title, Kiwi Danny Lee the best of the Australasians in the field in a tie for 41st, Marc Leishman the only Aussie to make the cut in a tie for 58th.
