It’s not every week you shoot 5-under-par for two rounds and miss the cut but that was Jamie Arnold’s fate at last week’s Utah Championship on the Web.com Tour.
Arnold, the form Australian on the secondary US circuit this year, was a victim of some absurdly low scoring at Oakridge Country Club but it will have done little to dent his confidence.
The 34-year-old from Sydney heads to the inaugural Pinnacle Bank Championship in Omaha this week still in with a chance of earning a 2018 PGA TOUR card though he will need to be at his best the remainder of the season.
The missed cut last week saw Arnold slip to 42nd on the money list and while there are still enough events left on the schedule to work his way into the top 25 there is little room for further error.
Just three Australians will take to the course at The Club at Indian Creek, Arnold joined by Steve Allan and Rhein Gibson.
Web.com regulars Robert Allenby and Mark Hensby are both playing the PGA TOUR’s Barbasol Championship this week while Nick Flanagan and Oliver Goss are both listed as alternates.
