Jamie Arnold continues to churn out good golf notching his fifth top-25 result on the 2017 Web.com Tour at the LECOM Health Challenge in New York.
The 34-year-old Sydneysider posted a final round 69 at the Peek ‘n Peak Resort Upper Course to finish 10-under for the week and T24, the best of the Australians by two shots.
Arnold is playing his first full season in America after earning his card at the 2016 Q-School and at 39th on the money list has a realistic chance to play his way to the PGA Tour for 2018.
It will require good golf to achieve that goal but after a slow start to his rookie year Arnold has shown he has the game to compete at this level with two top 5’s in his last five starts.
Arnold posted 10 birdies and three eagles this week and should take plenty of confidence into the second half of the season with seven events remaining before the four tournament Finals series.
If he can climb into the top-25 ahead of the first of the Finals Series tournaments he will be guaranteed a card for the 2018 PGA TOUR but if not still has an excellent chance of earning one of the remaining 25 cards in the four tournament series.
Oliver Goss and Rhein Gibson were next best of the Australians in New York both sharing 40th place at 8-under the card.
Goss played his best golf of the week Sunday with a 68 to move 13 places up the standings while Gibson went the other direction dropping 19 places with an event par 72.
Peter Lonard was the last of the Australians to play the weekend, a Sunday 67 moving him 19 places up the standings to T47.
