After one of the toughest scoring weeks in memory last week Scott Arnold enjoyed the Challenge Tour’s move to a more friendly course and posted his best result in nine events at the Karnten Golf Open in Austria at the weekend.
Arnold, who showed good form in Denmark
last week by firing one of only a handful of sub 70 rounds on Saturday, got off
to a good start in Austria and eventually finished T16.
The only disappointment for the
Sydney-sider was Saturday’s even par round which saw him slip from four shots
off the lead and a share of fourth to T16.
Rounds of 67-65-71-67 had Arnold 14-under
for the week and seven behind eventual winner Nacho Elvira of Spain.
After a difficult season in 2014 where he
posted just one top-10, Arnold looks to be in improved form this year through
his first two events.
A T30 in Denmark last week on a brutally
difficult golf course and three good rounds this week suggest a better year
could be in the offing for Arnold if he can tidy up some loose ends in his
game.
The only other Australian in this week’s
field, Terry Pilkadaris, missed the cut by a shot with rounds of 67-72.
