New Zealander Josh Geary fired the best round yesterday afternoon to start his second round at 6-under the card and outright fourth.
Making the turn at 2-under the card today he had caught Steve Jones for the lead. By the 15th hole he was the outright tournament leader, two shots clear of Jones and bogey free.
Also making moves up the leaderboard this morning was Queensland Tour rookie James Gibellini.
Starting on the back nine, Gibellini kick started his round with a birdie on the 14th and very quickly added another at 15. He headed to the par-3 16th, the hardest hole on course, and became one of just 12 players to birdie the hole so far during the Mazda NSW Open.
Matthew Giles has also made a huge leap up the leaderboard, he is 6-under after posting a 4-under 68 to be T6 on the leaderboard.
It’s still very early in the second round however the halfway cut is currently sitting at 1-under.
