An emotional 2014 Australian PGA Champion Greg Chalmers acknowledged the PGA Professionals and the PGA Tour of Australasia that gave him his start in golf.

""In his victory speech, Chalmers acknowledged all PGA Professionals who have coached him since his very first game of golf.

"The PGA is a fantastic organisation and everyone has a pathway to success and my pathway started with a man called Colin Barnes at Tuggerah Lakes Golf Club, which is now Shelly Beach Golf Club on the Central Coast of New South Wales." said Chalmers.

"Then from him to a driving range and Tom Linsky taught me a little bit and he’s now up in Queensland here at Logan City I think – maybe he’s moved, I’m not sure, but I haven’t seen him for a long time."

"Then I went to Perth and I was coached by Dale Warden, the Pro at the time was a lady Pro at Royal Fremantle Golf Club, got into the State team, went to Ross Metherell, moved to Dale Lynch, who you guys would all know and now I’m with Colin Swatton." added Chalmers.

Chalmers then went on to highlight the importance of the PGA Tour of Australasia and the role it played in providing much needed experience and a start to him and other young Professionals, and just as importantly it continues to provide pathways for players on to the world stage.

"Just the fact that I’m going to get three extra events in a year when I’m probably only going to get 15 anyway off my category, is very exciting and I’m forever thankful to our Tour here for those kinds of exemptions." said Chalmers who lost his full status on the PGA TOUR for 2015.

"It’s very important for players and gives a lot of chances.  I’ve got some other buddies who are going to go to Q-School and things like that who are getting that off the back of our Tour and that’s how I got my start."

"That’s how I got into Europe; that’s how I got into America and I don’t forget that.  I think it’s really cool."
