After both opening their 2015 campaigns with mid field finishes in brutal conditions at last week’s Made in Denmark Challenge Terry Pilkadaris and Scott Arnold will be looking forward to a more scoring friendly set-up this week in Austria.
The pair, Australia’s two full time
representatives on Europe’s secondary Tour, have both played decent golf at the
Karnten Open previously and as the Challenge Tour is now in full swing each
will be looking to build momentum with more regular events being played.
Arnold played one of the best rounds of the
week under some of the most difficult conditions imaginable on Saturday in
Denmark and while he finished down the leader board being one of only four
players to break 70 in such harsh weather shows good signs for his ball
striking.
The goal for all players on the Challenge
Tour is to be among the top 15 money earners at the end of the year with full
exemption to the main European Tour the reward.
Neither Pilkdaris nor Arnold came close in
2014 though Pilkadaris did look a chance early in the season when he got as
high as sixth on the money list before fading.
Also playing a limited schedule on the
Challenge Tour this year is Jack Wilson whose rookie season in 2014 wasn’t
everything he had hoped.
After making a big splash at the 2013
Australian PGA Wilson struggled to find form in Europe but will have learnt
plenty from the experience and better results are sure to come this year.
Wilson is listed as an alternate this week
though is a long way down the list and would seem unlikely to gain a start, a
situation he will probably find himself in more than he would care for as the
year unfolds.
Good results when he does get an
opportunity will be key to solving that problem and it would be a surprise if
Wilson doesn’t make the most of his limited starts in 2015.
