Low scores were the order of the day at the BHP Biliton Classic with PGA Professionals dominating the Port Headland Golf Club.

"MaxSouth Australian Max McCardle was on fire, delighting his amateur
playing partners with a birdie fest to watch.

He fired one of his lowest rounds as a Professional, with his
10-under 62 putting the field on notice.

"I’m sure we can thank Mother Nature for the low scoring,"
said McCardle who certainly capitalised on the calm conditions.

"I’ve played up here before and its blown 40 knots, which
has made scoring tough, but if it stays like this for the next couple of days,
it’s not unthinkable that 30-under is the winning score."

While that number might sounds exceptionally low for a
three round tournament, defending champion Craig Hancock set the tournament scoring
record at 26-under 190 last year.

 "You just have to
keep making birdies out here, if you don’t you’ll get lapped," added McCardle
who is being chased by a talented field.

Queenslander Brett Rankin is just one shot back on 9-under
63, while last year’s runner-up Andrew Martin is 8-under the card, with a
further 10 players on 6-under or better.

The action is set to continue tomorrow at Port Hedland
Golf Club from 10:00am
