Peter O’Malley will make his Senior Tour debut while Peter Fowler will be searching for his third straight victory as the Australians look set to dominate the Swiss Senior Open this week.
Fowler, already a two time winner this year and playing some superb golf, comes into the week off an excellent performance at the US Senior Open while O’Malley’s debut will attract plenty of attention.
Despite slipping at the weekend Fowler’s share of the 36-hole lead in California last week speaks volumes about his confidence and he is the player the field will have marked as the man to beat.
A former tournament winner and with an excellent record at the course, Fowler’s chances of three consecutive European Senior Tour victories seem within reach.
Fowler won’t have it all his own way, of course, the straight hitting debutante O’Malley is likely to be a genuine threat.
It’s not uncommon for players to excel on debut in the over 50 ranks and as a three time European Tour winner O’Malley will be eager to get back in the competitive arena.
Also teeing up in Switzerland are Noel Ratcliffe, Mike Harwood, Tim Elliott and Terry Price with Glenn Joyner and Graham Banister on the alternates list.
