The first round of the Isuzu Queensland Open is now underway at the Brookwater Golf and Country Club.

With calm conditions greeting players for the morning field

expected to capitalise on their morning tee times.

"BradThe past two years the Isuzu Queensland Open has provided a
springboard for its champion’s careers.

In 2013 Nick Cullen won the title then went onto win the
Australian Masters in 2014. Courtesy of that victory he most recently found
himself competing in the World Golf Championship – Bridgestone Invitational.

Last year Andrew Dodt returned home to Australia having lost
his status on the European Tour. With nowhere to play he was provided an invite
to the Isuzu Queensland Open which he went onto win.

Dodt then returned to the European Tour thanks to earning
his card at Qualifying School, he quickly cemented his status by winning his
second European Tour title at the True Thailand Classic in February. He also
competed in the World Golf Championship – Bridgestone Invitational.

Here are five players we think could follow in Cullen and
Dodt’s footsteps:

Brad Kennedy:  Ranked 164 in the Official World Golf
Rankings, Kennedy is the highest ranked player in the field this week. A
regular on the Japan Golf Tour he has already notched up two victories and has
been close to breaking through for his third this year with three runner-up
finishes.

Matthew Griffin: A
proven winner Griffin has already won twice on the PGA Tour of Australasia and
twice on the OneAsia tour. This year he has achieved one of his career goals
earning status on the Japan Golf Tour. Having found his feet in Japan he has
started to post some good results recently but being back on home soil and in
more familiar settings might prove just the tonic he needs to notch up another
career win this week.

Tim Hart: One of
the young guns on Tour, Hart has spent the winter competing successfully on the
Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series recording two victories and an impressive 15
top-10 finishes in 19 starts. Renowned as one of the biggest hitters on Tour,
if Hart keep his drives on the narrow fairways of Brookwater he could be walking
away with his first Tour win.

Matthew Millar: Tour
veteran Millar was in top form at the start of the season posting four top-10
finishes in his first four tournaments of 2015. This included a runner-up
finish at the Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship followed closely by a
victory the following week at the Holden NZ PGA Championship. Looking to pick
up where he left off, Millar’s game should be suited to Brookwater, he isn’t
overly long off the tee but knows how to find the fairways so will avoid the
trouble which can quickly envelop players on this challenging Greg Norman
layout.

Michael Wright: Brookwater
local, Wright has all the inside knowledge on the course which should lead him
to success. On Wednesday he already led his pro-am team, which included Courier
Mail journalist Jim Tucker, to victory. Also who could forget last year when
Wright provided one of the highlights of the tournament by acing the par-3 16th
hole.
