"IanTouted as the T20 of golf and launched in April of 2018, Blitz Golf has made a mark on the Australian golf industry and will be back bigger and better in the New Year.

Blitz Golf will expand in 2019 with an event played at Curlewis Golf Club on the 4th January and a second event hosted by Glenelg Golf Club two days later.

Superstar fields are being assembled for both tournaments with Ian Baker-Finch set to grace the fairways of the Glenelg Golf Club.

“The Blitz Golf concept really intrigues me, I believe golf is an entertainment proposition and needs to change and evolve to continue to caption the attention of sports fans,” said Baker-Finch.

“I am really looking forward to teeing it up in Blitz Golf, to experience the concept for myself; I think it will be a lot of fun.”

Also teeing it up at Glenelg Golf Club will be 2018 ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia player of the year Matt Millar, 2017 Fiji International winner Jason Norris, Champions Tour player David McKenzie as well as defending Blitz Golf champion Antonio Murdaca.

Being played two days prior the Blitz Golf event at Curlewis Golf Club in Victoria has also attracted a strong field with European Tour player Deyen Lawson, Olympian Marcus Fraser and Aussie golf luminary Michael Clayton all teeing it up.

“We are incredibly excited about the events and are looking forward to some fantastic golf being played; as well as the opportunity to bring golf to many people in a new format. There will be something for everyone at the ‘T20 of Golf – where Golf Meets Carnival’ with live music, DJs, pop-up bars, competitions, junior clinics and of course world class golfers playing an exciting high energy golf with plenty of risk-reward shot,” said Simon Zybek, tournament promoter of Blitz Golf.

Blitz Golf will see 40 players will be separated into two groups of 20 and start the tournament playing 9 holes in the first blitz.

The top-12 players from each group then advance to a six hole blitz before the field is reduced again.

Just the top-6 players from each group will advance to the three hole blitz before the final blitz is played over just one hole between the remaining four players in a sudden death playoff until just one remains and is crowned champion.

Each Blitz Golf event will be played for $40,000 and the event will be Order of Merit for the first time.  There are also bonuses for round 1 leaders, event winners and the overall winner creating a prize pool of $100,000 across the two events.
