Richard Green returns to the scene of the last of his three career European Tour victories when the Portugal Masters gets underway this week.
The left hander triumphed in 2010 on the back of a stirring final round 65 and while he was disqualified from the tournament last year has never missed the cut in six appearances.
The Oceanico Victoria layout obviously suits the 44-year-old’s eye as he also closed with a Sunday 65 in 2013 and has shot over par only twice in 21 rounds.
After a disappointing missed cut last week green will be keen to right the ship this week as he attempts to break into the top 60 on the Race to Dubai and be eligible for the bonus money on offer during the Finals Series.
Joining Green in the field this week are Jason Scrivener and Daniel Gaunt, both needing good finishes as they fight to retain full playing rights for next season.
Gaunt is 122nd on the Order of Merit and Scrivener 142nd, both needing to be inside the top 110 to guarantee their cards for next year.
Gaunt has played the Portugal Masters once before finishing T29 in 2011 while Scrivener tees up in the tournament for the first time.
