Vijay Singh gave his home crowd something to cheer about today firing a new course record at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.
With his talent on display, Vijay Singh showed why he is a
three time Major champion as he finished the Fiji International with a final
round of 7-under 65.
This course record round catapulted him up the leaderboard
into a share of third place with Ryan Fox and Nick Cullen on 1-over the card.
Cruising
around the golf course, Singh was bogey free for the round which he described
as an easy day on course.
"I
played solid and it wasn’t a difficult 7-under, I’m happy with it,"
said Singh who designed the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course but has
redevelopment plans in place for next year.
"I
made a couple of good putts. 15 and 14 were good putts from outside 15 feet and
I got up and down on 16 to save par."
"Once
you start to hit the ball the way you can and not worry about the wind too much
you’re going to have results and I played pretty good too."
This
was Singh’s second time playing the course in tournament conditions after he
finished tied 10th at last year’s Fiji International.
