Marcus Fraser and Scott Hend will need their best golf at this week’s BMW Masters if they are to advance to the final event of the Race to Dubai Finals Series next week.
The top-60 on the standings after this week’s event in China will be eligible to play the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai next week and both Australians find themselves in a precarious position.
Fraser is 60th at the start of the week while Hend is 64th and both will be aware what’s required to continue their seasons.
As a European Tour rookie Hend has never played the Finals Series but Fraser made it to the third leg in 2013 where he finished a respectable 12th.
It’s been a consistent though unspectacular year for the 11 season European Tour veteran but he will like his chances this week after some decent golf in recent weeks.
Fraser was T5 just four weeks ago at the British Masters in England and has missed only four cuts all season.
While Hend has never played this tournament he comes to Shanghai with plenty of confidence after a terrific performance at the WGC-HSBC last week.
A final round 73 dropped the Queenslander down the leader board but his opening three rounds in the elite 78 man field were outstanding.
The ultimate confidence player, Hend is capable of shooting very low numbers when his game is in shape and with everything to play for this week it would be no surprise to see him contend on Sunday.
