Rounds of 72-72-69-68 saw Barnes finish 3-under-par and T27, one shot ahead of Matt Griffin and Brad Kennedy who were 2-under and T30.
Won Joon Lee was a shot further back and T39, Adam Bland (T44) and Michael Hendry (T57) the only others to make the weekend.
Both Brendan Jones and Scott Strange missed the cut.
