Scott hungry for Aussie Open victory

Adam Scott’s desire to win the Emirates Australian Open was
palpable today at The Australian Golf Club.

"AdamAddressing the media following his morning pro-am, in which
he fired 9-under the card, Scott spoke of his hunger to be competing at his
best against the world’s best.

"I’m very
fired up to win the Australian Open this week. It’s got a big feel about it to
me," said Scott.

"I’ve been
building it up in my own mind, just knowing Jordan’s coming back to defend, the
Number 1 golfer in the world."

"If you get a chance to play against the best and win, that’s a big deal
and even more special to win your National Championship."

While others would dream of a season on the PGA TOUR which
included four top-10 results, two coming in the Majors, it’s been a quiet
season for Scott who has won at least once every year since 2001.

"I feel like I really only had a couple of weeks this year where I was
playing that top level golf," said Scott.

"I was right there at the US Open shooting 64 on Sunday and then leading
The Open with five to go and I’m a bit starved of it, I miss it."

"I’d love to be right there with Jordan on Sunday, going head to head
and seeing what I can do and getting back in that kind of mindset," added Scott
who spent 11 weeks as the World Number 1 in 2014.

"To get in the mix here this week with Jordan would be a lot of fun,
because he’s the benchmark of golf at the moment."

Since his season wrapped up in America, Scott has been
dreaming and planning of returning to The Australian which has been presented
in mint condition this week.

"This has been a focus of mine for the last couple of months since the
US season finished for me," added Scott.

"It’s been one of the venues I’ve been looking forward to coming back to
after last year."

"I really liked what they did here and it was showing signs of being in
fantastic shape going forward and it is in the best shape of any golf course I
think I’ve played this year."

While his name is already on the Stonehaven Cup, Scott wants nothing
more than to see it on there again, and he will come out blazing to make sure
that happens.

"I would love to win this tournament more than once.  Six years have gone by and they just slip
away so you really have to make it happen and I think that’s what I need to do
this week."

"I’ve got to get out there on the front foot and really make it happen
for myself.  There’s too much quality in
this field to just kind of back into a win. I think you’re going to have to
earn it this week."
