For Peter Senior it was a horror first
round while Craig Parry struggled in the last but in the end it added up to the
same result for each, a mid-field finish at the fifth event of the Champions
Tour season.
Senior didn’t manage a single birdie in the
first round as he dropped six shots around the Fallen Oak GC while Parry was on
the back foot in the third and final round after opening with four straight bogeys.
Both players teed up in the Mississippi
Gulf Resort Classic with hopes of a good finish but bad weather saw the field
have to play 36 holes Saturday after the opening round was called off.
The first round 78 was Senior’s highest
score since December 2013 and it is testament to his tenacity that he went
straight back out and fired a 4-under 68 in the afternoon.
Parry was more consistent with 70-72 but
after a long day ran out of steam in Sunday when he slumped to a 77.
