West Australian Daniel Fox
has carded a remarkable 9-under 62 to win the 2016 Sea View Pro-Am.
The event saw 48 Professionals
from around Australia and New Zealand battle the windy conditions in the
seaside area of Cottesloe just outside of Perth.
Daniel Fox didn’t find the wind a
challenge, playing in the afternoon round he fired a course record 62 with an
eagle, birdie, birdie start and only eight putts for the first 9 holes.
"I had an amazing day alongside my amateur
players, we had a number of laughs along the way about the string of 3’s on my
card" said Fox, who is a PGA Tour of Australasia winner.
Fox managed to reach 10-under
however made bogey on the second last hole of the day to claim the course
record and secure a four shot victory.
"I got to 10-under par and thought
about shooting 59 but I’m just really glad that I hung in there today for a 62,"
added Fox.
On a day when only six
other players broke par, Fox’s round will go down as one of the very best
of the 2016 PGA Pro-Am Series.
New South Welshman Alexander Pitty
fired a superb round in the morning shooting 5 under-par 66 to finish in
outright second place.
The WA/SA PGA Pro-Am Series
presented by Subaru heads to the Cut Golf Course on Wednesday which will once
again provide a stern test for players who are continuing on a run of events
which will reach as far as Broome next month.
