A higher than usual number of Australians
will tackle this week’s D+D Real Czech Challenge with tournament invitees Todd
Sinnott, Ewan Porter and Ben Eccles swelling the starting line-up to seven.
All three have received invitations to play
the Challenge Tour event which is in its fifth year.
Challenge Tour regulars Scott Arnold,
Daniel Gaunt, Dimi Papadatos and David Bransdon are also in the field as the
Challenge Tour begins a run of 17 consecutive weeks of staging tournaments.
Scott Arnold is the only player among the
Australians to have played the event more than once, finishing T53 in 2014
before improving to T24 last year.
Todd Sinnott also teed up last year but
missed the cut while Daniel Gaunt is the only other member of the Australian
contingent to have played, a T12 in the tournament’s inaugural staging in 2012
his lone appearance.
For Eccles the tournament is a good chance
to get some confidence after a fractured finger in April saw him miss his first
Challenge Tour start.
He has since played twice on the main Tour
for a T55 in Morocco and a missed cut in Mauritius but will be hopeful of a
successful Challenge Tour debut this week.
Sinnott, too, will be looking for revenge
after a first round 79 last year saw him miss the cut despite fighting back
with a 69 in round two.
