the weekend.
The New Zealand native got off to a slow
start in 2016 missing two cuts in his first five events but has turned things
around since May.
He began his run with a T5 finish at the
Mizuno Open and followed with a runner-up finish the following week.
Sunday’s T7 at the Sega Sammy Cup follows
on from a T5 at the ISPS HANDA Global Cup and will give the 36-year-old a
confidence boost as he stalks a second career victory.
Fellow Kiwi David Smail teed up for just
the third time in 2016 this week but produced by far his best golf to date to
finish tied with Hendry at 9-under and T7.
Smail is a veteran of the Japan Tour but
has played limited events this year, a missed cut at last week’s event
following a T42 at the Mizuno Open in May.
Brad Kennedy was the best of the
Australians at T29, two shots ahead of Adam Bland who was T39.
Qualifying School graduate Aaron Townsend
made just his third cut of the season on his way to a T68 finish while Won Joon
Lee was the last of the Australians to play the weekend and finished 73rd.
Scot Strange, Matt Griffin, Brendan Jones
and Kurt Barnes all had the weekend off.
