The Northern Territory PGA Championship is just a month away
and already Australia’s top young golfers have their eyes set on winning the
inaugural tournament.

The newest tournament on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of
Australasia is being hotly anticipated by Professional golfers, chief amongst
them in form player Tim Hart.

"It’s great to have another tournament on the schedule and
in a region up north. The Tour hasn’t been up there before," said 27-year-old Hart,
who despite having won 16 pro-ams in the last three years is searching for his
first Tour victory at the Northern Territory PGA Championship.

"I am looking forward to getting up there and seeing what
Darwin has to offer."

"But I am going there to win. I am sure every golfer goes to
tournaments thinking they can win, if they aren’t then they probably shouldn’t
be playing. So that’s my aim."

Renowned as a long hitter with the ability to shoot low
numbers, the Palmerston Golf Course layout is tipped to suit Hart with sport
fans set to be the beneficiaries.

An exciting player to watch, Hart has twice fired rounds of
61 this year, achieving the feat most recently this week.

"You have to shoot low numbers on this Tour to compete. If I
can get it going one of the rounds hopefully I can go low again, hopefully even
a couple better," said Hart, who finished runner-up at the Coca-Cola Queensland
PGA Championship after being on track for a 58 in the final round.

"You don’t think about 59 unless you are in that position
with a few holes to go, it might creep into your mind but generally you’re just
trying to go as low as you can each round."

"The courses I have shot low numbers on have really suited
my sort of game. I am a long hitter, if I can hit the driver well then I can
take advantage of most courses," added Hart.

"It’s about hitting it well off the tee and staying calm."

Despite visiting Darwin six years ago, Hart is yet to have
played the Palmerston Golf Course and will have his first experience of the
layout in his practice round.

"I have played at Darwin Golf Club but I haven’t played
Palmerston Golf Course. I have heard good things about Palmerston and that it’s
probably the pick of the courses up there," added Hart.

"I won’t look into the course too much before we get there.
I am more of a feel player, when I get there Monday I will have a couple of
practice rounds and go from there."

The Northern Territory PGA Championship will be played at
Palmerston Golf Course from 11-14 August.

In addition to the winner’s share of the $150,000 prize
purse, the champion will receive Official World Golf Ranking Points and be
fully exempt onto the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia until the end of the
2017 season.
