Matt Millar was the standout player on the ISPS HANDA PGATour of Australasia in 2015 and this week he will cash in on that success.

""The 40-year-old Tour Pro from Canberra will tee it up at hisfirst World Golf Championship tournament.

Playing in the Isuzu Queensland Open last week, Millarreceived the news that he had been elevated from first alternate into the WGC –HSBC Champions field.

"I had the feeling that I would be either in or out by oneshot to Gregory Bourdy depending on the result. I then got the email sayingthat I was first reserve," said Millar.

Millar will be faced with the Sheshan International GolfClub this week which favours the long hitters on Tour.

While that isn’t Millar’s specialty he will still be lookingat a big pay day with the USD$9.5million tournament absent of a half-way cut.

"I have not played the course but I have seen it is quitelong. I have made lots of mistakes this week (Queensland Open) and I willhopefully have them out of the way for next week," added Millar who finishedoutside of the top-25 for just the second time this season.

An experienced player on his home Tour, Millar is joined inthe field by 2015 New Zealand Open champion Jordan Zunic and 2015 AustralianPGA Champion Nathan Holman.

"A few of us Australians have the chance to play in thesebig tournaments. This is a great way to open new doors for us," added Millar.
