Former PGA
TOUR player David Lutterus was one of only five players to finish in red
figures at the PGA Tour China’s penultimate event of the season, the Phoenix
Tree Open in Guangdong Province.

Scoring was
tough all four days at the China Orient Country Club where American Charlie
Saxon claimed victory at 7-underpar.

That was
four shots better than second place and six better than Lutterus whose 1-under
total was good for a T4 finish.

The South
Australian’s final round 70 was one of the best of the day on Sunday where only
two players posted a better score.

Lutterus’
finish was one of his best on the PGA Tour China this season and moved him to
21^st on the Order of Merit with just one tournament remaining.

Lutterus
was one of two Australians in the top-10 with Jack Munro finishing T8 at 3-over
for the week.

Last week’s
runner-up Taylor Cooper fell short in his goal of winning one of the final two
events of the season and climbing into the top-5 on the Order of Merit, a T44
finish all but ending his chances of earning conditional Web.com tour status
for 2017.

Alex Hawley
(T34), James Gibellini (T40) and Peter Martin (T50) were the other Australians
to make the cut with Mitch Davis and Jake Stirling missing the weekend’s play.
