Tim Elliott has produced some scintillating golf in today’s opening round
of the Sunshine Coast Masters, to lead the way following his 6-under par
66.
The current E-Z-GO
PGA Legends Tour Order of Merit leader, Elliott was bogey free in his round at
the Noosa Golf Club opening up a one shot lead over Ian Baker-Finch, with
Lucien Tinkler and Craig Warren a further shot back in third.
Elliott was
pleased with his round, especially after what was a disappointing tournament at
Byron last week.
"It wasn’t one
of my best tournaments last week in Byron, but there is no better way than to bounce
right back and I did here at Noosa today," said Elliott.
"I have played
a fair amount of golf around the Noosa Course, and it’s one that I have really
enjoyed playing every time I teed it up.
"I can still
recall playing here when I first played the Jack Newton Classic which was
staged at the Noosa Golf Club in the late 80’s and 90’s.
"I hit the
ball great today, combining with a pretty hot putter. I am feeling good about
my game, so hopefully this will continue to be the trend over the final two
rounds."
Round 2 of the
Sunshine Coast Masters now moves to the Pelican Waters Golf Club, with both Tim
Elliott and Ian Baker-Finch teeing off at 12:15pm.
