Sinnott, Green lead Asian Tour Q-School final stage

Todd Sinnott continued his strong play in round two of the final stage of the Asian Tour’s Qualifying School to hold on to top spot in a three way tie with compatriot Richard Green and Japan’s Junya Kameshiro.

""Sinnott could do no wrong in the second round at the Suvarnabhumi Golf and Country Club, he hit seven birdies including five in his inward-nine, scoring 7-under 65 for the day, over the two rounds he has only dropped one shot.

The Victorian says he’s enjoying his golf after taking some time off over the Christmas period, a break that is clearly paying dividends now.

“I didn’t perform as well as I would like to in my last few events in Australia, so I had a little break over Christmas and I feel refreshed and I’m enjoying my golf now which is nice,” Sinnott said.

“I’m just trying to stay as relaxed as possible and the last two rounds are probably the finest I’ve had in a while.”

Sinnott said an unlikely partnership with a caddy, who speaks little to no English, is helping him stay relaxed and have a little more fun than usual on course trying to decipher what each other are saying.

“My caddy is really cool and she’s making me laugh quite a lot which is good, she doesn’t speak much English and I don’t speak any Thai but we are always laughing and joking and trying to stay as relaxed as possible.

“Body language is a big thing as we are trying really hard to understand what each of us is saying, it’s quite funny!”

Richard Green began his charge up the leaderboard yesterday with an impressive 9-under 63, he cited his putting as a major focus for him in holding on to pole position for the remainder of the tournament.

“I had a nice couple of days and I’ve been hitting it good and putting nicely, I hope to keep it going,” Green said.

“I need to work hard again tomorrow and keep putting myself into position, I’ll try to keep myself where I am and try to finish off the week in the number one spot.”

Both Aussie’s now sit in prime position to earn a ticket on the Asian Tour; however they both still have an eye on qualifying for the European Tour.

“I was speaking to Nathan Holmes who played out here for a while but plays on the European Tour now,” added Sinnott.

“He was actually saying basically most Australians who are playing in Europe have gone through the Asian Tour.

“It’s a big stepping stone for us.”

Fellow Australian’s Jake Higginbottom and Austin Bautista are next best placed in T37 with Jack Wilson and Nathan Miller in T48.

Neven Basic, Marcus Both, Jarryd Felton, Adam Blyth, Junseok Lee, Unho Park, Brad Smith, Martin Dive, Nathan Buzimkic, Scott Barr also made the top-100 cut to continue in to round three.
