Jason Norris won the 2017 Murray Bridge Hotel PGA Classic with a final round five-under-par 63 to overtake the 36-hole-leader Taylor Cooper who had the title in his grasp with a few holes left before a back nine collapse opened the door for Norris who finished the tournament on -11 with rounds of 65-65-63 to take a one shot victory over Victorian Adam Burdett who closed with a six-under-par 62.

“It was a fantastic week and I love this golf course” said Norris who made it consecutive wins for South Australians in the event after David Lutterus won the inaugural event in 2016.

Norris started the day two shots back of Cooper and after a solid start, made a strong move with four birdies in six holes during the middle stretch of his final round.

“I made some putts and managed to keep the ball in the fairway which is what you need to do around here…it’s a very tight course and easy to make some bogeys if your long game is slightly off” added Norris who will head to China next week to begin his year on the Asian Tour.

Murray Bridge Head Professional and tournament host Shannan Scott was wrapped with the event and low scoring.

“It’s great to host the tour here in Murray Bridge and our members love playing with the guys” said Scott.

The event is supported in large by the Rural City of Murray Bridge which has assisted the event become one of the largest tournaments on the Australian PGA Pro-Am Series and now the feature event in South Australia.

South Australian elite amateur Lachlan Barker produced the highlight of the final round on Friday, carding a round of  seven-under-par 61 to climb up into the top 10 for the tournament as he prepares to lead the South Australian Interstate Team in Western Australia next month.

The WA/SA Subaru pro-Am Series heads to Mt Osmond on Monday for the 2017 SA PGA Foursomes before Flagstaff Hill host the Dave Potter Honda Pro-Am on Wednesday.
