Damien Jordan and Deyen Lawson hold a share of the lead after today’s opening round of the Carriers Arms Hotel-Motel Maryborough Pro-Am, after each firing 5-under par 65.

""“My ball striking was really consistent today which set up a lot birdie opportunities and fortunately I putted well," said Jordan.

Jordan’s round got off to a slow start with his only bogey coming early in the round at the 3rd hole, 169m par 3, courtesy of a three putt.

Jordan hit straight back with a birdie on his next hole, finishing the front-9 with birdies on the 7th and 9th holes for a 2-under par 32. The back-9 was a solid 3-under par score of 33 for a total of 5-under par 65.

Lawson’s round consisted of five birdies and an eagle coming at the 5th hole, 439m par 5, for a front nine total of 4-under par 30.

Lawson’s back-9 consisted of birdies on the 10th and 15th holes. He faltered slightly with bogey’s on the 8th and 14th holes to finish a 5-under par total 65.

“I’m pleased to have a share of the lead heading into tomorrow’s round," said Lawson.

“I was happy with the way I played today just a couple of soft bogey’s otherwise I felt I was really consistent all day."

There is a group of seven professionals all sitting on 3 -under par 67 and well positioned to be in contention for tomorrow’s final round.

The final round of the Carriers Arms Hotel-Motel Maryborough Pro-Am tees off at 6.45am tomorrow morning with the lead players teeing off at 11.45am
