Jamie Arnold returns from a rare week off to continue his pursuit of a 2018 PGA TOUR card at the Web.com’s Price Cutter Charity Championship in Missouri this week.
Arnold elected to skip last week’s Elli Mae Classic in California, his first missed tournament of the 2017 schedule, but dropped only two place on the money list as a result.
At 51st in the standings he is Australia’s highest ranked player and best chance to break into the top 25, a week away from tournament golf likely a good decision.
Arnold will join Web.com Tour regulars Steve Allan, Robert Allenby and Rhein Gibson in the field at Highland Springs Country Club with former PGA Tour player David Lutterus also gaining a start.
Gibson is 10 places behind Arnold in the money list standings though appears safe to finish in the top 75 who get access to the upcoming Web.com Finals Series which will decide 25 cards for the 2018 PGA TOUR.
Allan is in a less promising position, the veteran currently outside the top 100 earners who are guaranteed a Web.com card for next season and in danger of a return to Q-School.
Allan does have some good memories from this event after a T9 finish last year but will need to play better than he has for much of the season if he is to reproduce anything similar.
Robert Allenby, too, needs a turnaround in form. After a promising week at the Barbasol Championship with three rounds in the 60’s he missed the cut at last week’s Barracuda tournament.
