Bryden Macpherson has continued his strong play in China to finish inside the top-10 at the circuit’s first co-sanctioned event with the European Challenge Tour.

""Macpherson was one of 60 China Tour players exempt into the Hainan Open and at 11-under for the week finished T10, American Ryan Ree the only China Tour player ahead of him on the leaderboard.

Macpherson posted scores of 68-70-68-71 to be 11-under for the week and seven behind winner Erik Van Rooyen.

Seven Australasians earned a start at the tournament, Nick Cullen the only Challenge Tour representative among them.

The 2014 Australian Masters champion is desperately trying to play his way into the top-15 on the Road to Oman and graduate to the European Tour in 2018 but the task is becoming Herculean as he slipped to 39th on the standings after this week’s event.

In difficult conditions Sunday Cullen posted a 3-over 75 to finish near the tail of the field, a disappointing end to the week after being just three off the pace after the opening round.

Maverick Antcliff was best of the Australasians behind Macpherson at T31 with New Zealand’s Matthew Perry a shot further back and T39.

Josh Geary, Max McCardle and Deyen Lawson all missed the cut.
