Happy International Women’s Golf Day!

Women’s Golf Day is taking the world by storm today, having increased its global reach by 68% in only its second year.

Thousands of women – from Sydney to Silicon Valley – will converge in 46 countries at more than 691 locations for the one day event. The 2017 event venues include public and private golf courses, driving ranges and retail outlets around the globe.

Whilst Australian clubs and facilities have been relatively slow to get involved in this worldwide initiative, Big Swing Golf has grabbed this chance to encourage women to give golf a go.

At all Big Swing Golf centres, women will be able to meet PGA Pros, get help with their swings, win prizes and receive free merchandise. Each session includes 45 minutes of free simulator hire for the participants to test what they have learnt, with guidance as they play.

Each participant will receive:

• A glass of sparkling white wine or orange juice on arrival
• Finger food and nibbles
• A 7-iron with a graphite shaft
• A golf ball
• A membership card and the associated benefits of being a Big Swing Golf lifetime Member.

International Women’s Golf Day Founder Elisa Gaudet believes it is important that women have a positive experience when playing golf, regardless of their level of experience. “Women’s Golf Day caters to all levels and imparts camaraderie.” Gaudet said.

She is also clearly delighted with the growth and worldwide interest. “I am elated and proud that this one day international event has introduced thousands of new female golfers to the sport and impassioned existing golfers while transcending language, culture, religion, and race to celebrate golf, women, and community.”

Golf Australia Chief Executive Stephen Pitt is delighted to see how the concept has grown and is keen for more clubs and facilities to get involved in 2018.

Female participation is critical to the success and long-term health of our great game.”
