After starting the day two shots behind Marcus Cain, Tim Hart has overcome a mid-round lapse in concentration to claim the 2015 PCR Polyweld Mining Town Series title.
After starting the day two shots behind Marcus Cain, Tim Hart has overcome a mid-round lapse in concentration to claim the 2015 PCR Polyweld Mining Town Series title.
Hart has been
mister consistent over the past 11 rounds, firing an amazing 42-under the card,
which included a win at the Middlemount Pro-Am two weeks ago.
Consistency
proved to be the key for Hart, who outlasted Cain over the closing holes today
for a one shot victory.
Hart raced
out of the blocks early, making birdie at his opening five holes. Teeing off
the 385 metre par-4 8th hole, Hart pushed his drive down the right side of the
fairway. Unfortunately his ball would not be recovered and resulted in a double
bogey six.
"I was pretty
upset with not being able to find my ball and I was even more frustrated when I
bogeyed the next. Thankfully I made a good par save on the tenth which steadied
the ship," said Hart.
"It is great
to have won back-to-back PCR Polyweld Mining Town Series titles, especially
when you consider the quality of players that have taken part in this year’s
series."
"This win
will not only help me for the remainder of the year, but will hopefully assist
with heading to an international qualifying school later in the year," added
Hart.
While Hart
may have taken out the Series win, yesterday’s tournament victory belonged to
Victorian Chris Gaunt.
An 8-under 64
in the final round of the On Site Rentals Dysart Pro-Am saw Gaunt leapfrog the
first round leader’s finishing at 11-under the card and two shots clear of
Callan O’Reilly and Tim Hart.
Gaunt was
happy to finish off the series on a winning note.
"The clubs
throughout the region have done a great job for so many years with hosting
pro-ams, and it’s great to have experienced this for myself for the very first
time," said Gaunt.
"It’s been a
solid couple of weeks for me and although it hasn’t been all smooth sailing, I
am happy to have been able to get the job done at Dysart and look forward to
the inaugural Capricorn Coast Invitational this week at Yeppoon."
The leading
25 Professionals from the PCR Polyweld Mining Town Series will be joined by
seven invited players as they tackle the Yeppoon Golf Club layout from
Wednesday in the inaugural Pines Capricorn Coast Invitational.
With his
runner-up finish at the Onsite Rentals Dysart Pro-Am, Tim Hart also moves ahead
of the South Pacific Export Papua New Guinea Open champion Josh Cabban in
the race to claim the 2015 MLC Advice Nundah Sunshine Swing Order of Merit.
The Sunshine
Swing forms part of the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series which comprises of 200
events Australia wide.
Played across
more than 170 golf courses around Australia the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series
