On his quest for a win, Foster fired eight birdies on his before play was interrupted late in the afternoon when a severe lightning storm swept through the central coast, forcing the afternoon field to take cover.
"The support from the local members and sponsors allowed the Professionals to return to the course shortly after and complete the tournament," said Foster on behalf of his fellow Professionals, and something which the PGA was extremely appreciative of.
Foster, who hails from Western Australia, is in the final stages of completing a Degree in Physics and Chemistry and says he is looking forward to getting back to playing full time again once his studies are completed.
"My game has been up and down and trying to manage the studies in the past two years has been tough but it’s nice when it comes together like it did today."
Also in the field was Aaron Price who fired a 1-over 72 round, who was nothing but complementary to the course.
"The course was simply sensational and these greens are some of the best we get to play on all year," said Price, who will return to the US in the coming weeks along with Hall and Nick Flanagan for the PGA TOUR Qualifying School.
